Five Questions for a Songwriter – Luke Schindler

1) What was the very first original song you performed for an audience?

The first song that I ever played in front of anyone was “I will follow you into the dark” by Death Cab for Cutie. I was terrified.

3) What one person or thing inspires or informs your songwriting the most?

Andy Hull from Manchester Orchestra is one of the few people that I know of that can but weight and power into his songwriting that shows through for the audience. He claims that playing what is real is what is important, because the audience can always tell when you are faking it.

4) What can we expect to hear this Friday at The Adelphia Music Hall?

I will be playing several songs that I have written in the past year. This set of songs is the most important music that I have ever written. I wrote them during what has been the lowest and most difficult point of my life, and they mean a lot to me.

He only answered three, but, he’s allowed.  Looking forward to Luke’s set!
