The Rain Crows
The Rain Crows coalesced in the summer of 2010 from widely dispersed points in Ohio. Bill Thompson III and Julie Zickefoose, founding members of long-running southeast-Ohio band The Swinging Orangutangs, recruited bassist Craig Gibbs (Hoodoo Hand, Mad River) to join them. A chance jam session at a rustically quaint Lake Erie resort with singer/pianist Wendy Eller brought together the core elements of what would become The Rain Crows.
They had one practice before their first gig, and it was all too much fun to stop.
Despite the geographic challenge of living in separate parts of The Buckeye State, the members of The Rain Crows share an affinity for the music they play and for the creative process that goes into writing their original songs. They’ve all performed professionally for years and are pleased to be able to keep music in their lives. Playing with like-minded souls, well there’s nothing like it.
The band’s debut CD “Looks Like Rain” was recorded and produced at Moviesound Studio in Parkersburg, West Virginia and features 16 original songs. It is out now!
